Botallack artist Laura Hodgson lives close to the Geevor Tin Mine which has been the focus of much recent activity in the filming of the BBC’s second series of Poldark. Laura has been painting all her life and uses a striking blend of oils and acrylics to produce highly original paintings of her beloved Cornish landscape. Her favourite locations include Kenidjack Carn, Trencrom Hill and and the area surrounding Pendeen and Zennor.
Laura has already built up a successful sales record at the Alverton Gallery and is most certainly one to watch.  Using the broad variety of colours and textures possible with acrylic paints, she builds hers scenes into believable representations. To render rocks as credible masses is a particular challenge that has exercised artists for years. Laura’s patient study and practice has been rewarded with great success in this area and then, sprinkling the result with renderings of wild flowers and sprays of metallic paint, she produces paintings that are guaranteed to enhance your walls and evoke memories of wild days in West Cornwall.
