Not even a week in to his Tatescape exhibition and one of Chris Tate’s pictures has already been snapped up!
SOLD – Mousehole for £850.
More about Chris from his website:
Christopher James Tate graduated from Falmouth School of Art with an honours degree in Illustration in 2004; he grew up and was educated in Cornwall and has developed a strong reputation as a Cornish artist with a distinctive style and vision. Chris is particularly interested in architecture and the built environment. He feels his work is inspired by reportage styles – painting as storytelling.
“Cornwall for me isn’t just about the sea; it’s about the towns, villages and random buildings.”
He’s fascinated by different materials and the ways in which buildings age and tell their own story.
As well as Cornwall he has painted in a number of towns and cities including:
Christopher’s exhibitions include… The Lander Gallery Truro since 2004, 49 Gallery Falmouth, The Illustration Gallery Stroud and Open Studios throughout Cornwall.
SOLD!! On 8 August 2015, “Newlyn Late Afternoon”, original oil painting by Penzance artist Stewart Kent, gallery price £495. We sold two more of Stewart’s yesterday as well but didn’t have time to photograph them.
More about Stewart from his own website:
“Originally from Yorkshire most of my life has been spent living in London where my wife and I raised our three children. I took up painting full time when I moved to Cornwall eight years ago having visited the county regularly during the past 30 years. I am for the most part self-taught although I have learnt a great deal from attending short courses in various parts of the country including a longer stint of eight months on a weekly basis at the West London studio of St Martins School of Art tutor and artist Mike Major. I have been fortunate to gain first hand expertise and knowledge with other brilliant artists such as Kenneth Denton in Norfolk, Ray Balkwill in Devon, Neil Pinkett, Paul Lewin, Alice Mumford in Cornwall and Joseph Zbukvic in France.
I paint Marine and Landscapes in Oils, Watercolor and Mixed Media. I have sold at the Royal Society of Marine Artists, W H Lane Auctioneers and extensively through my own Guest House Gallery in Penzance. Whenever possible I am out in all weathers painting Plein Air as I find that this mostly requires a fast and spontaneous approach in trying to capture a feeling for the subject and the prevailing atmosphere. I often sketch and photograph the subject for finishing any detailed work in the studio.
Please browse my website and do contact me if you would like to buy a painting from the gallery or if you are interested in a commission.” Recent commissions have included Seaton Park in Devon, Lerryn near Lostwithiel, Clevedon Pier near Bristol and Prussia Cove.”
